MIKE'S MUSEUM PAGES
OK, OK - I know this is a long ways from being
a real museum, but during the many years of computer work and other general
electronics I have accumulated a gob of junk.. err maybe a large quantity of
vintage and unique historical computing gear. I had always thought that I would
open a wing of my shop as a small display and share this with those who enjoy
looking at it.
There is always some fun in showing early hard drives for
example. When you see a full sized 5.25" drive that weighs maybe 20 pounds, and
only has 5 megabytes of storage next to a 2.5" laptop drive that holds 80,000 mb
- its quite a visual comparison. If I had one of the older 13mb 12" hard disks
from the early IBMs.. ahh.. well you see the problem. I collect more and
more and its starting to take over my shop storage area and part of the shop
too!
I have recently started a clean out campaign in my storage area to help
document, photograph and then in some cases, eliminate items that are in my
collection. Rather than toss some of this stuff out, I have put some recently on
eBay to help find it a home where other collectors can appreciate it. So
the first pages here are from items that I have recently sold or are selling
currently. At least this way I have pictures of these items, and
someone else can store them.
